Purpose: to develop the theoretical and practical bases for the development and implementation of a regional investment policy aimed at mobilizing and effectively using the local resources of the regional economy. Methods: The study used general scientific methods of cognition, primarily dialectical and logical, as well as methods of logical and organizational modeling, tabular interpretation of factual information. The SWOT analysis was used as a method of strategic planning, which is based on identifying the factors of the internal and external environment of a region and dividing them into categories. A special role played a systematic approach. Results: The study conducted a SWOT-analysis of the investment attractiveness of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic taking into account the opportunities and risks to characterize the investment potential of the region. The tools were studied and key areas of activity of the authorities for the creation of a favorable investment climate in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic were identified. Scientific novelty: The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that it explores the main features of the investment attractiveness of the subject of the North-Caucasus Federal District of the Russian Federation the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and offers tools for state support of investment activity in the KCR to increase investment activity in the region.
