Purpose. The study of the problem of absenteeism in the youth environment as a form of political participation and reduction of its level through public policy in the Russian Federation. Methods. The analysis of the state youth policy in the Russian Federation and measures to increase the electoral activity of young people was carried out. Results. The result of the study is the conclusion that there is no integral state policy for increasing the level of political participation of young people in order to minimize absenteeism among young people. The presence of separate elements is traced in the state youth policy in the Russian Federation and measures to increase electoral activity implemented within the framework of the Youth Electoral Concept. However, to reduce the level of absenteeism, this is not enough. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty is to study the issue of absenteeism as a form of political participation in the youth environment and to consider the issue through the prism of state policy.
