The subject of the article is the fight of the oil companies for TAP project and the participation of the US, Pakistan and Turkmenistan in this standoff. Purpose. To research the confrontation between Unocal and Bridas oil companies for the TAP gas pipeline, for the right to operate it in the case of construction and the participation of the United States in this confrontation. Methods. The analysis identified the key methods and political technology that guided international actors interested in the TAP project. The methodology of political research and historical analysis were applied in the research. Results. Methods which guided Bridas and Unocal oil companies in the confrontation for the TAP gas pipeline project were revealed. Interrelation of the American oil company with the US policy, which implied active involvement of Washington in Central Asia since 1990s was identified. Scientific novelty. Through systematizing and analyzing historical data it becomes clear why the pipeline project was never realized.
