Purpose. The article considers specific features of the Russian society and state development in the XVIIIfirst half of the XIX century and their influence on the development of civil law. Methods and methodologies. To research the issue of evolution of the Russian society the author refers to a variety of findings in social sciences. The research draws the conclusion that the systemic character of civil law of the Russian Empire naturally proceeded from inconsistency of socio-economic processes and was the inevitable outcome of the imperial nature of modernization in the society maintaining a significant level of dependence on the natural-climatic environment of its functioning.

Purpose. The article addresses the issue of genesis of construction and development of the Code of Civil Laws of the Russian Empire in 1832. Methods. Theoretical ideas, basic principles and systematization standards forming the basis of the Code of Civil Laws are discussed. Special emphasis is given to the projects of the Code of Laws system. The scientifi c novelty of the results. During the consideration of the legislative design of the laws the author defi nes the relationship of the elements with the features of social relations.

Purpose. In the article the author considers efforts of systematization of civil legislation of the Russian Empire XVIII century in the period of reigning of Peter I. Methods. The author analyzed and systemized norms of civil law in the period of 1700-1725, considered main arrangements on codification. Scientific novelty and results. Period of reigning of Peter I was commemorated by active legislative activity. Multiplicity of acts appeared in judicial and managerial practice actualized evident need in codification of legislation. In the considered period systematized efforts were between two possible ways of the problem solving: addition to Council code of laws reflecting the existing changes in the country or making of a new Council code.
