Purpose. The study of modern domestic simulation models of urban systems development and their potential use as decision-taking support systems. Methods. A historical overview of simulation of urban development in Russia is provided. The models of spatial and dynamic urban development are considered. Current modeling findings in urban development based on the concept of system dynamics are studied in greater detail in the article. Results. An overview of modern domestic findings and key trends in the field of simulation of urban development is provided and the efficiency of the use of simulation modelling in urban systems management is shown.
