Purpose. To identify the main problems of government fishery complex of the Far Eastern basin, which should be considered in order to improve efficiency of its development strategy. Methods. Methodological and theoretical basis of the research are the works of the Russian scientists on fishing activities development and public administration theory. The main methods of the research are systematic approach, analysis and synthesis, document analysis, comparative analysis, statistical data analysis, scenario analysis, induction and deduction methods. Results. The main problems of public management of fisheries in the Far Eastern basin considering regional specifics within the framework of the basic public management functions regulation, planning, forecasting and control are identified. The directions of an integrated approach to public management of fishery industry development in the Far East. Scientific novelty. As scientific novelty the problems of public management of fishery industry development are analyzed by the basic functions of government, considering the specific features of the Far Eastern basin.
