Purpose. In the article, the author considers state control as one of organized means of state regulation of business activity. Methods. Based on systematic and institutional approaches the author uses such major methods as comparative analysis, synthesis, evaluation, modelling and classification methods. Results and scientific novelty: The author researches nature of the “state control” category; summaries scientific views on such notions as “control” and “supervision”, their classification; considers correlation of the given notions on the level of legislation.
