The article considers contents and specifics of public administration in the field of culture. Relevance of the appeal to this range of issues is demonstrated. The author describes subject and object area of public administration and also the main segments in the field of culture (directions of public administration). Aims of public administration in the field of culture and subjects of public administration in the specified field are investigated. The article argues that the field of culture as an area of public administration has the certain specifics where standard approaches and methods are not relevant. The main instruments of public administration in the specified field are shown in the article. The article features experience of some foreign countries in the specified field.
