Abstract

Purpose. Construction of the organizational and economic mechanism of typologization of the regions of the Russian Federation on the basis of analysis of the social and economic potential of Russian regions. Methods. The group of indicators of social and economic potential of Russian regions is determined, the analysis of each of indicators of social and economic potential of Russia on available indicators is made. A cluster analysis of the social and economic potential of the regions was also conducted. On the basis of the analysis, three groups of Russian regions were identified and a mechanism for managing the regional economy of the depressive region was proposed. Results. Based on the study, all groups of Russian regions were divided into three groups, based on an analysis of the socio-economic situation in Russia's regions and the cluster analysis that was conducted. It was found that most regions of Russia have a rather low development potential, and can be attributed to depressed regions. As an example for determining the management mechanism, the Kirov region was taken. The highest indicators of social and economic development in this region were singled out, based on this, the mechanism for managing the economy was proposed. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty lies in the study of the socio-economic situation of the region, based on the most significant indicators, namely, 36 indicators of the region's potential and proposed an appropriate mechanism for managing the region's economy based on the potential already available for a particular region.
