Abstract

Purpose. Compare the results of investment activity of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation that are part of the Urals Federal District; to consider the role and importance of instruments for enhancing the investment activities of the regions in order to improve their competitiveness. Methods. The study uses a method of comparative and statistical analysis. The dynamics of investment activity in the regions of the Urals Federal District is analyzed with the aim of identifying key problems hampering the development of the regional investment system. Results. Based on the comparative analysis of investment performance indicators in the regions of the Urals Federal District, a rating of the effectiveness of investment activity of the regions was drawn up, a conclusion was made on the relationship between investment activity and investment attractiveness of the regions, the need to intensify investment activities with the help of such tools as the introduction of the Standard for the executive authorities of the constituent entity to ensure a favorable investment climate in the region, the interrelation of the development strategy of the region with the territory advantages of municipalities. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty lies in the development of a methodology for comparing the investment activity of the regions, including a set of indicators, different from the methodology used by the State Statistics Committee of the Russian Federation.
