The emergence of the Anglo-American borrowings and their subsequent metaphorization in the Russian managerial discourse as one of the ways of the Russian management development

Abstract

Purpose. To identify patterns of emergence and development of borrowed metaphors on the basis of comparison of Anglo-American and Russian managerial discourse. Methods. The author used the method of discursive analysis, comparative analysis, taking into account the national specificities of their respective languages and cultures, as well as descriptive method, which includes techniques and interpretation of selected units. The selection was carried out using the method of continuous sample. Results and practical importance. In the study the author conclude that the emergence of new meanings of borrowings, derivational activity producing bases of foreign language origin, high degree of metaphorization are the most important indicators of depth of lexical assimilation of English borrowings in the system of the Russian language and particularly, managerial sub-language. Materials of this research can be used in practice of bilingual lexicography, in practice of teaching foreign language to the students specializing in management, cross-cultural communication. Scientific novelty. In this study, for the first time the author identified the features of development of Anglo-American metaphors in Russian managerial discourse; determined regularities of their use as a means of enhancing the integrity and expressiveness in the managerial language and speech; learnt new facts about both national identity of Russian and Anglo-American metaphorical management worldview, and general directions in the development of international management discourse.
