The analysis is based on the technological and conceptual changes both in the information and communication environment of the political protest and in the political sphere of Russia as a whole. As a main approach, theoretical and statistical research methods are used based on the analysis of both primary and secondary data in order to establish qualitative relationship between the studied phenomena and to identify the essence of the studied phenomena. Results and scope. The research analyzes basic information materials of the official bodies as a response to social discontent. On the basis of these data key strategies of the official informational reaction are revealed, which have the strongest impact on the suppression of protest campaigns. The analysis is based on sociological data benchmarking of various years with electronic media materials. The article draws on a variety of studies on political protests of the last twenty years. The author reveals main similarities and differences of the phenomena under research. Basic strategies of the official information reaction of the political power to counterinformation are formulated. The findings can be extrapolated to the organization or improvement of practice-oriented models of information campaigns of power bodies. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty is in researching information influence of the authorities on the protest campaigns over time and in long periods with reference to different types of the protest campaign manifestation. The obtained data can provide theoretical background for the further projection of information impact models on the protest campaigns in Russia.
