Abstract
Introduction. The problems of the reduction and aging of the Russian population, the developing shortage in the labor market cause an urgent need for a migration influx of able-bodied people into the country. Due to the fact that most of the labor migrants are foreign cultural visitors from Central Asian countries, the severity of the problem of cultural integration requires solutions related to the management of social processes.
Materials and methods. Surveys were conducted in Yekaterinburg among citizens in 2016 (N = 485), in 2019 (N = 222) and in 2024 (N = 1400) using the questionnaire method. In 2018, the opinion of the townspeople was studied by in-depth interview (N = 33). Surveys were conducted among non-ethnic migrants in 2017 (N = 231) and in 2019 (N = 222), and data on their interviewing in 2017 (N = 16) were collected. Conflict theory was chosen as a methodological basis, highlighting the growth or decrease of conflict potential between the host community and migrants from Central Asian countries in the study. For the study of cultural identity, the position was approved that it is part of a social identity having a constructivist nature, as well as the concepts of multiplicity, multi - part and multilevel socio-cultural identity were applied.
Results. Studies have shown the presence of attitudes towards mutual integration of the host community to visitors from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, who currently have the most suitable conditions for their implementation, which must be used from the point of view of social management.
Discussion. The study of the potential of the host community in facilitating the integration migrants with different ethnicity into the Russian community is extremely important today. Consideration of the specifics of attitudes towards the acceptance of non-ethnic migrants from Central Asian countries by Russians, as well as the attitudes of newcomers towards the formation of a new consistent migrant identity, allowed us to obtain a reasonable idea of the impact of the attitude of the host community on qualitative inclusion in the reception society. In addition, the dynamics in the development of a positive attitude towards non-resident migrants was revealed, which gives reason to believe that today is the most favorable time for the development of cultural competencies in the host community, contributing to the cultural integration of newcomers and increasing the migration attractiveness of Russia.
