Aim. To study decent work as a legal phenomenon, aimed at harmonizing interests of employees and employers, providing sustainable social development, and also identifying certain problems. Methods. General methods of scientific research (dialectical, metaphysical); general scientific methods of research (analysis, synthesis, systematic method); particular scientific methods (historical, comparative, formal-legal, sociological). Results and scientific significance A number of obstacles to the effective implementation of the decent work concept in Russia are identified. A sociological survey was conducted revealing citizens’ understanding of the "decent work" phenomenon, its nature, specific content and the importance for each employee. Novelty. Based on the sociological survey of various professional, sex and age groups features of understanding by citizens of decent work, its content and achievement problems in modern Russia are disclosed.
