Purpose. The article is devoted to the discussion of territorial waste management schemes. The author considered the requirements of the Federal law "On production and consumption wastes" to the schemes entering into action on January 1, 2016, Draft Decree of the RF Government, detailing those requirements, composition and structure of the schemes existing in separate subjects of the Russian Federation. Results and scientific novelty. The author shows that, along with the visualization of information, the schemes allow performing an analysis of information about the location of objects on waste treatment and waste flows taking into account environmental, sanitary and other restrictions when placing objects, optimizing placement of objects taking into account population density and transport infrastructure. The most preferable way is to create schemes in the form of geographic information systems. Promising options for waste treatment systems laid out in the schemes should be linked to programs in this area.
